Description: THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU OFFICE OF MANANGEMENT AND BUDGET
DEFINES THE CORE BASED STATISTICAL AREA (CBSA). IT IS A
STATISTICAL GEOGRAPHIC ENTITY CONSISTING OF THE COUNTY OR
COUNTIES ASSOCIATED WITH AT LEAST ONE CORE (URBANIZED AREA
OR URBAN CLUSTER) OF AT LEAST 10,0000 POPULATION, PLUS
ADJACENT COUNTIES HAVING A HIGH DEGREE OF SOCIAL AND
ECONOMIC INTEGRATION WITH THE CORE AS MEASURED THROUGH
COMMUTING TIES WITH THE COUNTIES CONTAINING THE CORE.
METROPOLITAN AND MICROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREAS ARE TWO
CATEGORIES OF CORE BASED STATISTICAL AREAS.

NOTE: IF AN INSTITUTION IS NOT DEFINED AS A CBSA, THE
VALUE OF THE FIELD WILL BE ZEROES (VALUES BASED
ON U.S CENSUS BUREAU OMB BULLETINS - THE VALUE
IS NOT STORED ON CORPORATE DATABASE SIMS PRESENTLY)
