| Definition of Reports |
The Reports of Changes to FDIC Financial Institution and Office Structure describe non-financial activity of FDIC supervised and regulated institutions. The report is based transactions processed between the 1st and 15th and the 16th and last day in each month. The changes include:
Category Terminology New Institutions: Newly established and / or newly chartered de novo institutions that did not previously exist under a different charter. Business Combination: The combination of two or more financial institutions. Purchase and Assumption of Branches: The acquisition of certain assets and the taking of responsibility for certain deposit liabilities usually associated with specific branches of a financial institution. Main Office Relocations: The change in location associated with the charter of an institution. Title Changes: A new name given a financial institution. Conversions: A change in charter, supervisory agent, insurance status, entity type, regulatory agency, and / or regulatory membership which results in a classification change. Liquidations/Closings: Financial Institutions which voluntarily liquidate or close. Trust Powers: The authority to engage in the trust business. Branch Office Relocation: A change in location of a branch office of an institution. Office Opening: Established branches of financial institutions. Office Closing: Branches of financial institutions no longer in existence. Summary of Changes by Institution Class: Category totals listed by institution classification. Line Item Terminology ADDRESS: The street address (physical location) of the institution. CERT. NUMBER/CHECK DIGIT: A unique number assigned by the FDIC that is used for institution identification purposes and for the issuance of FDIC deposit insurance certificates. CHARTER AUTHORITY: An abbreviation indicating the chartering agency of the institution. Values are listed below.
CLASS: A one or two character abbreviation indicating a major grouping ofinstitutions based on REGULATOR, CHARTER, FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM MEMBERSHIP, INSURANCE(1) AND COUNTRY CODE.
CLASS CODE: A two digit number, the first of which identifies a major category of institutions, the second of which discriminates within that category.
CITY: The name of the city or town in which the office is physically located. COUNTY/COUNTY #:The FIPS full alpha name of the county and county number in which the institution is physically located. EFFECTIVE DATE: The date the transaction became active. FDIC SUPERVISORY REGION: The two digit number indicating the FDIC Division of Supervision Region in which an institution's main office is located.
INSURANCE: An abbreviation of the name of the fund that provides depositinsurance for a financial institution and its offices. Note: INSURANCE occurs twice and the two occurrences are identified by INSURANCE(1) (primary) and INSURANCE(2) (secondary).
INSTITUTION NAME: The entire legal name of the institution. OFFICE NAME: The name of the office or branch. PRIMARY SUPERVISORY: Character abbreviation indicating the primary supervisoryagency.
SERVICE TYPE: A code indicating the type of service offered by an office. Full services offices accept deposits, make loans, open/close accounts, has a loan officer on site, has normal hours and a full time staff. Limited service offices have some, but not all of these features. 11= Full service brick and mortar office STATE: The postal abbreviation of the State in which the institution is physically located. ZIP: The five digit code. |
